My 1st Youtube Video! Ankara Street Style

Hey all.

Its been a while since I blogged so I thought I will show you what I've been up to....... SO.... I made my first Youtube video. I have always thought it will be a great idea to show people how to wear African print on a daily basis to any event and not just special occasions like weddings, birthdays, churches or African parties. London Fashion Week 2013

It's London fashion week! A time for inspiration and creativity.

African Fashion

With the increased globalization many designers are inspired by traditional cultures from all around the world. The years 2011 and 2012 brought a re-emergence of African textiles and prints on to the international runway. Designers and fashion houses, such as Vivian Westwood and Burberry introduced collections clearly influenced by the various cultures found in Africa. However, Africa has not only been a source of inspiration for the big brands, also African designers are gaining international recognition and a thriving industry is growing around them.

Celebrities are also catching on. The American singer-songwriter Solange Knowles also known as Beyonce’s sister continues to embrace her independent style and personality through African fashion and aesthetics. This is most recently seen in her new music video “loosing you”.

Other celebrities such as singer-songwriter Elle Varner, reality star Angela Simmons and model/actress Eva Marcille have also been big supporters of African Fashion and continue to encourage women all around the world to do the same. So do we at Eldimaa Fashion.

A statement skirt is a 'musthave' in every girl's wardrobe. You can easily dress it up or down, depending on wether you are going for a casual look or for a night out. There are few girls/women who know how to rock statement pieces as such. However, in reality there are many of us who feel that they are way to difficult to style and always end up buying the clothes that "goes with everything".

The key is to be experimental. Pay attention to details, such as colors and accessories, but don't overdo it. Below are examples of outfits you could wear for a night out:

FASHION DESIGNER MUMS

I recently became a mother earlier this year and I find it difficult combining my profession/passion with being a new mum. I love being a new mummy but having the time to be creative can be very challenging. I feel like I have lost 2 years in my professional career. (1 year being pregnant - I know its only 9months but it feels like a year. Plus another year looking after my baby until I feel she's old enough for daycare).

In other ways, I feel inspired to start a children's line and I also feel like I better understand the needs for new mums. I was and I am still a size 8(thank God) but I feel my dress sense should be more responsible. (not that I was not responsible before but classy)

I love being referred to as a yummy mummy but I suddenly realize my tops revealed my torso and my dresses were too short. I now have a better perspective on the way women need and want to be dressed after childbirth (sexy but classy). I will still cater to the young non mums because I can still relate- minus belly tops :-)
